Simon Casey finally got his big break by being in the right place at the right time. Few people could have predicted that the contest to find an Irish representative for the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest would turn out to be one of the most popular TV shows ever in Ireland. Simon performed live on You’re a Star every Sunday night and his resulting high profile on prime time TV has given him the status of a superstar in Ireland. He has been a frequent guest on Irish entertainment shows, including the Late Late Show, Open House, Ireland AM, etc. Simon Casey is now known as one of the best wedding bands in Ireland.
He undertook speech and drama training from an early age and scored minor chart hits with the hugely popular Church Mice.
Simon’s first single, ‘A Better Plan’, spent three weeks at number one in the Irish Top 30 and is now certified triple platinum. His second single, ‘Come Back To My Heart’ has also achieved platinum status and number 3 in the charts. Simon’s debut album ‘The Heart’ has achieved double platinum status and includes songs that were offered to him by Gary Barlow (Take That), Brian Kennedy, Ronan Keating and Wayne Hector (of ‘Flying Without Wings’ Fame).
Simon also recorded the Official Irish rugby world cup anthem, ‘Ireland’s Call’ in 2003 and has been certified platinum, written by Phil Coulter. He has performed this song to crowds of over 80,000 people at international matches in several stadiums around the world.
